  • The wingspan of the Indiana Bat is from 9 to 11 inches.

• The Indiana bat weighs as much as 3 pennies!
 

• The Little Brown Bat population has dropped from an estimated 385,000 bats before WNS struck to 30,000 in 2011, a decline of over 90%!

 

• Female bats gather together with their pups in maternity colonies.

• Male bats gather together in bachelor boxes, separate from females and pups.

 

• U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has estimated 6.7 million bats have died from WNS.
 

• Both bats and dolphins use echolocation -- the use of sound waves that bounce off objects and return to the ears – to navigate.
